THE STORY Dr. Linda Anh Nguyen

Linda Anh Nguyen, MD, FACG, AGAF

Dr. Linda Nguyen is the Chief of Gastroenterology and Hepatology at Hoag’s Digestive Health Institute and Clinical Professor of Medicine at Stanford. She specializes in Neurogastroenterology and Motility disorders, built one of the nation’s preeminent Neurogastroenterology and Motility programs, and served as Interim Chief for the Division of Gastroenterology & Hepatology at Stanford.  She is a nationally recognized expert in complex Neurogastroenterology and gut-brain axis disorders, earning her the Master Clinician Award at Stanford University and the Distinguished Investigator Award for Women in Neurogastroenterology from the American Neurogastroenterology and Motility Society.

Known for her out of the box thinking, her ideas are as bold as her recent leap from traditional academics to private academics (privademic), becoming the inaugural Division Chief of Gastroenterology & Hepatology at the Hoag Digestive Health Institute, where compassion meets innovation. Always preferring the road less traveled, she is on a path of reimagining her career and legacy on her own terms, while redesigning programs that fill patient care gaps.

A mother of two who navigated single parenthood while climbing the ranks of academic medicine, and now remarried with a blended family she loves, Dr. Nguyen knows firsthand what it means to lead with grit, reinvent yourself, and refuse to choose between ambition and the life you want to live. She brings a simple and powerful lens to everything she does:  if it doesn’t offer fun, learning, and impact, it doesn’t make the cut. She is drawn to work and relationships that feed her need for creativity, autonomy, belonging, and the opportunity to make a real difference.
